The Birgitta Festival in Tallinn, Estonia, takes place the second week of August. On August 6 & 8, 2021, Ms. Voulgaridou will perform Puccini’s Suor Angelica, singing the principal role. Conductor Paul Magi will lead the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra at the Pirita’s Convent Ruins. Suor Angelica is a thought-provoking opera in one act by Giacomo Puccini. The opera with a melancholic undertone tells the story about an upper-class woman Angelica whose greatest sin is having an illegitimate son. The opera focuses on the protagonist Angelica’s sufferings, on human cruelty but also on redemption.
