Alexia Voulgaridou returns to the Royal Opera House to sing Puccini’s Madama Butterfly

On March 27 and April 6, 9 and 11, Alexia Voulgaridou will return to the Royal Opera House at Covent Garden, London, to sing her acclaimed role Madama Butterfly in Puccini’s opera. Ms. Voulgaridou just appeared on same role at the San Francisco Opera, in her local debut. The critics were quick to offer praise for her performance (please see press quotes). Soon after her debut in San Francisco, Alexia performed Cio-Cio San at the Sydney Opera House: “As Butterfly, Greek soprano Alexia Voulgaridou was outstanding, adroitly handling the higher registers of Puccini’s soaring score with clear focus and displaying great vocal agility where needed”, wrote Tom Pillans of Daily Telegraph, “Alexia Voulgaridou is heart-breakingly moving as Butterfly, her voice finding every nuance and of Butterfly’s joy, unwavering faith and eventual despair” wrote Carol Wimmer of Stage Whispers.
